Becky Makla began her Art career 30 yrs. ago as a Graphic Artist, working for "Homes and Land" Magazine in Tallahassee, Florida. In 1986, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia and continued to study Art and Art History at Georgia State University and Atlanta College of Art. She focused on 2D in drawing and painting in pastel, acrylic and oils. Her studies included a broad range of style encompassing abstract to 3D realism. She studied with over 22 instructors, including Chris DiDomozio, a classical realist, who taught the 'old masters tradition' style of painting in oil.
Her recent watercolors explore a more immediate expressionism. Using alcohol inks, liquid watercolor and yupo paper....her work is experimental. She carries that theme into her jewelry designs. Using polymer clay, she designs mixed media collage pendants which go thru a process of baking in a low fire oven and curing with ice resin epoxy. The result is a pendant that looks like glass.
